Suburban Detroit police fatally shoot man who pointed gun at them
WARREN, Mich. (AP) — Officers responding to a calls about a man who was assaulting family members fatally shot him after he pointed a handgun at them Friday in suburban Detroit, authorities said.
The man came out of a home armed with a handgun and pointed the weapon at officers, who then opened fire, Acting Warren Police Commissioner Charles Rushton said.
“In defense of the officers, several rounds were fired,” Rushton said.
Lifesaving measures were attempted on the man before he was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries, police said.
The incident occurred around 1:45 p.m.
No officers were injured, police said.
